  MULCHING EXPLAINED When mulching, grass is cut and then continually re-cut within the cutter deck, producing very finely cut grass. These fine grass clippings are then forced back into the lawn, where they decompose and give the grass roots a natural nitrogen boost for a healthy and green lawn. Mulching can reduce cutting time by up to one third due to there being no collector to empty.
